WordPress Custom Development

I don't just build websites. I build systems, and I do it with WordPress. Why? Because WordPress is powerful. And if you can cut through all the technical complexities and bloated nonsense, the possibilities are endless.

Remember the good ol' days when WordPress was simple? Well, a lot has changed since then. More plugins, interactive theme builders, and all-around bloat have destroyed what used to be an empowering experience. Tell me if this sounds familiar:

Which plugin do I choose? How do I configure that, again? Are my backups actually secure? Am I losing sales because my site is slow?

Don't worry—we've all been there, including me. The difference is that I've spent the last 10 years learning how to answer those questions (and solve them).

Whatever your WordPress problem is, whether it be a small annoyance or a large systematic issue, I can help. Ready to start a conversation? Schedule a call and let's talk.

I've Done This Before. A Lot.

Of course, you don't know me from Jim down the street. So why should you trust me with your project? Queue semi-awkward bragging music...

In 2018, I led a small team to develop a large design library for a worldwide medical company. They needed consistent branding across all their in-house and contracted agencies, and a way to technically enforce that brand across all teams.

They needed their design system to be flexible, so we built the design system on vanilla PHP. Then we extended the components and re-purposed them for two different environments: WordPress themes and custom Beaver Builder components.

In the same year, I also joined the Toptal Network—an elite platform that curates the top 3% of freelancer talent.

In 2019, I launched Freeshifter and became an official Kinsta Partner by offering premium hosting and maintenance plans for WordPress users who wanted a better experience (which you'll get 3 months of for free after working with me—sweet!).

What's next? You! If you want to learn more about my experience, schedule a quick call, and let's talk. Otherwise, let's build something great together—I'm available soon.

A Process That Works

Okay, maybe you want to know what you're getting into. Thankfully, you'll know exactly what you're getting into. Here's my process:

1. Introduction Call

First, we get to know each other through a Zoom call. We talk about your needs, wants, and how my services can help you achieve your goals. There's nothing like a one-on-one conversation to get the ball rolling. To get started, schedule a meeting.

2. Research & Discovery

If the call goes well and we both feel like we're a good fit, then I start research & discovery. As discussed in our initial call, you'll receive a one-time invoice that covers the time it takes to do research, discovery, and project planning.

3. Contract & Payment

Awesome! We have mutual understanding on the value of the project. Next, I work up a simple (and legal) contract and project scope for you to review and sign. Once signed by us both, the first invoice for 50% of the project cost is sent.

4. Development

You've paid the first 50% of the project, and we shift into full-gear. I begin setting up infrastructure and allocating development resources to your project. During this time, your project gets priority and dedicated effort.

5. Ongoing Collaboration

During the development phase, we are very much working together. This isn't one of those scenarios where you don't hear from me for a month at a time. I check in multiple times a week, and expect you to do the same. All communication happens on Basecamp to better organize the project and keep things running smoothly.

6. Completion & Launch!

All the hard work up until this point has been for something, and we're finally here: launch! We decide on a course of action, the final 50% of the project is invoiced, and I (if desired) completely handle deployment of your new system once the invoice is paid.

7. Analyze Results

Finally, we measure the results to make sure that you your investment moved the needle. During development, we ensure that some sort of analytics is installed, and I monitor your site for the next month after launch. If any bugs come up during the first week, they are fixed without extra cost.

Sounds pretty great, right? I think so. Fill out the form below for a more detailed consultation on how I can help you, or schedule a quick call to pick my brain.

Ready to Start? Let's Talk.

  • Choose which project scope best describes your scenario. We will have plenty of follow-up conversations, so don't worry too much about details.
  • Choose the budget range you are most comfortable with.
  • If you don't have one, that's okay — just leave this blank.
  • Give us as much detail here as possible to expedite the quote process. We will follow up either way, but more details mean fewer upfront questions.
  • Upload design files (if you have them). If you don't, we can discuss possible solutions — though, please be advised that design files are crucial for an accurate estimation.
